What seed are you?

You know I have lived almost all of my days in Iowa, America’s heartland.  I have driven past miles and miles of farmland, watching the farmers work their ground and plant their seed.  But it wasn't until just a few days ago I found myself in a tractor watching this planting process up close with my own two eyes.  Suddenly I felt like a kid on the first day of school, completely amazed at the process of what it takes to put a soybean seed in the ground.  So many factors, preparation, and maintenance go into planting and growing those seeds JUST right in order to gather a bountiful harvest come fall.  But it seems like where the magic of Iowa happens is not only in the hard work of the farmers but it lies beneath the surface in the blackness of the soil.  And as God would have it, the next morning I found myself on my little porch in town; I opened my Bible to Matthew 13 where Jesus teaches the parable of the sower.

Break Every Chain

At 10:30am on Monday we pulled up to the HOME to pray with them for two hours.  Having no idea what to expect we grabbed our coffees and ran in.  Two and a half hours later we left feeling like we had encountered Lord in such a deep and powerful way!  Break every chain is one of those songs that we sang during our time in prayer together as we cried out to God to break EVERY chain in Haiti and bring freedom!

Endings and Beginnings

May is a month full of such craziness.  Its thirty-one days are filled with so many endings which lead to brand new beginnings.  But along with those endings and beginnings come a swarm of emotions and questions.  And so as I was wrestling with what to write on this second Tuesday in May, I thought I would share with you a scripture that has been bouncing around the basement walls of Vi Bella.
