It surprises me every year.

Because, no matter how many times I turn the calendar page or note the way the Earth slowly tilts away from the Sun or gaze out frigid window panes, I am always dazzled by the season that greets me on that first warm day.

And it is always a cause for celebration.
Every. Single. Time.

For you see, it’s hard to remember that there is life teeming just below the surface when your days have been filled with more darkness than light.
It’s hard to grasp that, despite your endless winter, the earth has been heaving and hawing, as with growing pains, under the frigid frost, longing to break open again.
Longing to breathe.

But the Earth, she knows the course.
She knows that the spinning and the tilting, the freezing and the thawing, the shortening and, then, the slow stretching–all of it has a rhythm.
All of it is for a purpose.

The seasons remind us that nothing lasts forever.
The seasons illustrate that our lives are woven together with both light and dark. One season fades into another and we witness growth and harvest and death.
And the incredible truth gilding all of this? Each one of these phases prepares the soil for the next step.
That which once flourished might wither and fade but deep in the hidden places, life is waiting to spring forth, once again.

This is exactly the mission of Vi Bella Jewelry. This is exactly the story of Vi Bella artisans.

Vi Bella is about transformation.

For women in Haiti, Mexico and even here, in the United States, ViBella provides opportunities to enter a new season of their lives through employment, education and opportunity. Women who were once forced, in order for their basic needs to be met, to place their children in orphanages are now crafting beautiful works of art and earning a sustainable income.

Women who have lost so much are now able to use that which has been discarded (plastic, metal, paper, even oil drums) to craft art and beauty.

This is what life looks like in God’s economy.
This is what helps create beautiful lives.

I was given the wonderful opportunity to get a sneak peak at Vi Bella’s Spring 2015 catalog and to try out the Kira Lee Earrings and the Marina Necklace. As the mother of a busy and curious toddler, I’m not able to wear much jewelry these days. I did, however, pull myself away long enough to try on these simple but beautiful pieces. I tend to lean towards more understated jewelry and these two pieces fit that description perfectly. The earrings are light with just the right amount of sparkle and grace.

The Marina necklace sets itself apart with its horizontal cross and pearl-like details. Both pieces are ones that I would return to, again and again, for both daily and special occasion wear.

How about you?

May I suggest that you consider perusing ViBella’s Spring catalog? I promise, you will see gorgeous pieces of hand-crafted jewelry, each one of which has its own story of hope and redemption pressed upon it.
Each one sings of a beautiful life.
