Vi Bella and Three Cords Haiti (a business under the umbrella of Mission of Hope) are collaborating to empower more people in Haiti. Combining the best of Vi Bella Jewelry and Mission of Hope’s Three Cords operation will result in creating more high quality jobs for Haitian artisans, provide excellent workplace discipleship, and reinvest profits back into life transformation through Mission of Hope’s ministries and the work of other missions in Haiti.
We are linking arms with Three Cords because their mission and heart aligns so beautifully with our own here at Vi Bella.
The Three Cords Story
Three Cords was started by the Mission of Hope after a major earthquake devastated Haiti in 2010. A missionary working in the prosthetics lab began to occupy patients by teaching them to braid fabric while they waited for treatment. Unfortunately the disabled in Haiti are seen as unable to work or contribute to their communities and are often treated as outcasts. Knowing these women would need jobs and to grow spiritually, the idea behind Three Cords was formed.
In September 2010, Three Cords launched to empower and employ amputee victims to make beautiful handbags, headbands and other accessories. The team quickly expanded hiring from the nearby deaf community. Today the vast majority of artisans on staff are at-risk women or Haitians with disabilities. In addition to providing artisans with life transforming jobs, all profit from Three Cords has been reinvested into prosthetics, medical, and other ministry work of Mission of Hope.
The totes, headbands, wallets, and other accessories are handmade by artisans that are now empowering their families and communities.
What Our Partnership Means: We Are Better Together
Beginning this spring Vi Bella and Three Cords will start to combine product lines to bring a more complete set of high quality handmade accessories to each others’ customers and partners. Three Cords products will be added to the Vi Bella website and will be marketed by our growing U. S. Ambassador team. In addition, some Vi Bella jewelry and accessories will be added to the Three Cords website, resulting in more awareness, sales, and growth for both companies. We will be able to reach a greater audience and ultimately impact more artisans in Haiti, creating more beautiful lives and making a combined impact, providing a path out of poverty for more artisans.
Both organizations are exploring ways to further integrate product design, manufacturing, and distribution always with an eye towards creating more life-changing artisan jobs in Haiti.
“The Vi Bella journey began with my own mission trip to Mission of Hope” says Julie Hulstein, Founder and CEO of Vi Bella. “God placed on my heart a desire to use job creation as a way to help create beautiful lives for the people of Haiti and their families, while using the success of Vi Bella to donate back to the life transformation work happening through MOH Three Cords. Partnering in this way is a wonderful next step in seeing that dream become reality.”
According to Brad Johnson, President of Mission of Hope, “We have known Vi Bella since they first started. We love their passion for workplace ministry and having a true mission-minded business focusing on giving back to reach every man, woman and child in Haiti. By working together we can see more artisans employed and trained while watching a business grow and evolve into something with much greater impact for the entire nation.”
Going forward Vi Bella and Three Cords will work to bring together a full line of artisan products which our customers are asking for. We will also focus on providing new ways for customers and partners to more deeply experience and understand how their purchases truly impact lives.
Vi Bella products have already been added to a small store in Haiti, allowing missions groups there to learn about our life-changing ministry through their purchases and the opportunity to begin as an ambassador to sell products state side if they choose. We are also collaborating in on-the-ground staffing to make the production process more seamless for both companies.
We look forward to this exciting partnership and the many ways our collaboration will help us continue to live out each company’s scriptural basis:
Vi Bella: Micah 6:8: “To act justly, love mercy and walk humbly.”
Three Cords: Ecclesiastes 4:9-12:
“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”
We look forward to launching this new collaboration soon!
